Arab Intellectuals Depict UN Report as Political DAMASCUS , Oct. 22 ( SANA ) The UN report on the investigation on the killing of former Lebanese Premier is a political report. It was invested politically on Lebanese, regional and international levels, Director of Al-Hewar Center in Washington Sobhi Ghandour said Friday. “ It was important for the committee to hear contradictory witnesses and sayings instead of listening to a one side testimony who condemned and held Syrian and Lebanese parties the responsibity before beginning the committee tasks there.” Ghandour added in an interview aired by the Syrian T.V. Before forming the investigation committee and immediately after Hariri assassination, some Lebanese politicians and international sides began to throw accusations which came identical to the report content. This means that the committee depended on one side that has mere conclusions.” He indicated “There was ignorance for facts which they had not dealt with. There are a kind of a regional and international investment to what was in the previous period of pressuring Syria , putting her out of Lebanon as well weakening her Arab and international stance in this stage.” Ghandour concluded. In a similar interview, political writer and analyst Bilal al-Hassan stressed that the report contradicts all legal rules because an accusation in crime can be individual and it is inadequate to be against a whole state with all its apparatus.
