Egypt Stance on Mehlis Report Damascus, Cairo, Oct. 23 (SANA) Egyptian Presidency Spokesman Sulieman Awad said that his country is studying the report of the international investigation Committee on Assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri like many other countries, asserting that the first reading of the report gives many possibilities. In a statement to reports on Saturday, Awad added that the report itself stressed that the investigations didn’t finish yet and the team needs enough time to complete the investigations. For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu al-Ghait stressed that one should wait and read the report slowly before giving any stance, asserting that the UN sources said that the investigations will be continued to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah al-Ashaal said that the report comes in the framework of targeting Syria. In a statement issued yesterday, Ashaal said the Report is unbalanced and illogical. In a statement to BBC broadcasted on Saturday, Ashaal added that the report is full of contradictions. |
