Deputy Foreign Minster Denies He Threatened Hariri Damascus 23-10 (SANA) Deputy Foreign Minster Walid al-Muallem denied he had threatened former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri as it was claimed in the report of the international investigation committee into the assassination of Hariri. Mr. Muallem said in an interview with the Syrian Satellite TV on Sunday that "I didn't go to Premier Hariri to threaten him but to brief him on the mission assigned to me, and to ask him to cooperate with me to make this mission a success." He added that "my relationship with Hariri was a friendship and work relationship that had extended since mid 1980's." The Deputy Foreign Minster pointed out that the international investigation committee report "was put to be a means and a pre-designed plot not only for Syria but also for this region…the report contains a lot of legal flaws and was not put to uncover the assassination of Hariri.' |
