
DAMASCUS, (SANA) _ Talks of President Bashar al-Assad and Chairman of the Italian Senate Foreign Relations and Expatriates Committee Lamberto Dini on Monday centered on situation in the region and latest political developments in it.
Both sides stressed significance of realizing just and comprehensive peace based on the international legitimacy resolutions and the return of the occupied Golan as well as role of Italy and Europe in solving the region's causes.
Viewpoints were identical regarding the raised issues where Dini underlined importance of Syria's role in stability of the region. Means of bolstering the bilateral relations on all levels particularly on the parliamentarian one were also reviewed.
Chairman of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee at the People's Assembly Suleiman Hddad and the delegation accompanying to Dini attended the meeting.

(ANSA) - DAMASCO, 25 GIU - Il presidente siriano Bashar Al-Assad ha espresso preoccupazione' per l'attentato di ieri alla missione Unifil in Libano. A suo parere e' 'opera di persone provenienti da fuori del Libano', ha detto il presidente della commissione esteri del Senato, Dini, al termine dell'incontro con il presidente, il quale non ha risparmiato critiche all'inazione dell'Ue. Intanto, si concretizza l'ipotesi che sia stata un'autobomba ad esplodere al passaggio del mezzo del contingente spagnolo.
Earlier, Vice President Farouk al-Shara on Monday renewed Syria's commitment to achieve security and stability in the region , hailing "the role that could be played by Italy and Europe to realize this purpose, based on the mutual interaction between the two Mediterranean banks". Al-Shara, meeting Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Italian Senate Lamberto Dini and an accompanying delegation, discussed the latest developments in the region and bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
For his part, Mr. Dini indicated to the importance of dialogue and communications with Syria to deal with regional issues, in light of Syria's basic role in realizing satiability.
Further, Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem met on Monday with Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee in the Italian Senate Lamberto Dini, and discussed with him bilateral relations between Syria and Italy and means of enhancing them, in addition to the recent developments in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq. Al-Moallem affirmed that Syria is keen on maintaining security and stability in the region, and that Syria is prepared to exert all efforts to help achieve that, stressing the necessity of establishing just and comprehensive peace in the region according to UN relevant decisions. Al-Moallem also called the European Union to take a more active role in pushing Israel to comply with UN decisions by ending its occupation of the occupied Arab lands and allowing the establishing of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, Dini stressed the importance of achieving peace in the region, praising Syria role in that regard.
