Time for Peace Reinvigoration
The US recent seemingly reasonable stances
regarding Mideast crisis are indeed encouraging. President George W. Bush’s
speaking of the legitimate right of a Palestinian Statehood, and Secretary
Powell’s statements before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee add to the
glimmer of hope in a region, fed up with tension and violence. Powell said
recently before the Senate: “ some groups sometimes described as terrorist might
be seeking to redress grievances, gain rights or achieve freedom from
oppressors. Such a stance would definitely give impetus to the strong belief
held by the majority in the region that the need was dire for a sharp line to be
drawn between terrorism and freedom fighting, a form of resistance against ‘’
oppressor's’ practiced by almost every nation of the world. True is the fact
that “not every case would be "black and white" and that there would be "gray
areas" that might need to be treated politically.
"But then you start to run into areas where one man's terrorist is another man's
freedom fighter and that's where you have to apply judgment," Powell added,
according to Reuters but not the US. State. Gov. Internet Website, which raises
many questions regarding the non-posting of such important statements; simply
speaking, those who occupy other’s territories and usurp their rights denying
them the simplest rights tom life should be held accountable for being
terrorists once they use every means of killing as to eliminate others
indiscriminately with no respect for children, women, the old or for and
peaceful civilians whose utmost ambition is to breed his family and buy them
necessary food. The case isn’t that difficult once the US does intend to curb
the increasingly escalations, violations and threats by Israel against its very
surroundings. Such a surrounding has been ever calling for the realization of a
just and comprehensive peace based on the internationally recognized and
acknowledged formulas and resolutions. To state it simply, once the causes for
tension fade away, a new are of understanding, stability and prosperity would
usher. As the ongoings have proved; whatever retaliatory and escalatory measures
are counterproductive for all and would but only lead to the more of blood
shedding, in a the region which is thirsty for water and not for blood. Damned
are those who want to dig for wheels of blood .
Thus, the US top diplomat acknowledged that “the Israeli response to Palestinian
attacks was counterproductive because it set back the prospects for peace.”
There should be a way out; which is only through an Israeli recognition of the
importance of peace, as the main outlet out of current crisis, "Ultimately your
security ... has to rest on peace between the two parties in the region.
Anything ... that makes it that much more difficult to get back to the path
doesn't serve your interest at the end of the day. "In all of these months now
of responding that way, using force, justified as it may be in some instances,
security has not been restored," This is the very strong belief held by Syria,
who repeatedly calls for peace tracks concomitance; hence peace can never
secured for any party at the expense of others, The world of today has been
transformed into a small village where all members, willy nilly, have but to
co-operate, consult and co-ordinate. No country can live in isolation of the
other; so why not to seize the standing opportunity for peace as to join hands
in building the brilliant future of tomorrow, at least for generations to come!
Peace and security for all members of the region; hence, as history and present
facts tell, it is a very well connected and organic region, if a member suffers,
the entire body needs a physician to consult and receipt to be prescribed. It is
the prescription of peace; found almost in the pharmacy of each house of the
region peoples.
"We're just going to have to persuade everybody to stick to it and continue to
make distinctions between that which is legitimate protest and legitimate
movement toward freedom against an oppressor and that which simply doesn't meet
that standard. But there are not going to be black and white rules in every
instance," The oppressor in this case is very well-known. It is the other side
which manipulates every evil in the interest of its sinister schemes. What
happens in Afghanistan is diametrically different from than inside the occupied
territories. Supposedly Afghanistan is hit because it harbors terrorism bases
and wanted terrorist perpetrators of Sept.11 attacks, though no substantial
proof has been yet given, arbitrarily massacred the innocent of more than 80
nationalities, in the Palestinian territories, the oppressed are fighting back
with light weapons and stones against the oppressors who use every sophisticated
means of killing indiscriminately against civilians. Israeli itself has started
the assassination and killing, should the other side put hands in pockets and
watch the elimination of its political symbols and figures by the Israeli Apache
and rockets. Assassinations would lead no where but to more of retaliations and
killings. God only has the right to end life. Israel should be ashamed of itself
when it compares its attrition war against unarmed civilians, whose land
occupied and rights usurped, to the ongoing international campaign as to rid the
world of terrorism. There is an international consents that the black Sept11
attacks against the US is a heinous terrorism against the entire civilians of
today’s world. Such a consents and international coalition has to contribute to
the elimination of the roots of Israeli state terrorism in Mideast region. Peace
resumption and reinvigoration has to find its place on the agenda of the present
coalition.
Time is ripe now for a reconsideration of the past committed mistakes and for a
new approach to the region countries even-handedly as to address the listing of
some countries on some unjust lists. In line with such a reconsideration,
hopefully, names of freedom fighters and their supporters would be dropped once
and for all from suspicious lists. As a an elect-UN Security council member,
Syria would spare no efforts, as underlined by President Bashar Assad and
Foreign Minister Farouk Sharaa, and as deeds on the ground have proved, in the
sake of international security, peace and stability. If not, it will be
unjustified contradiction and unbearable injustice against the whole
international community which voted for the just demands and the wise policy.
