Israeli Fabrications!

The other day, an Israeli representative to the United Nations launched a campaign of slandering and fabrication against the rotating Presidency of the UN Security Council. It was understood, as the Syrian Presidency put it as ‘ an Israeli deliberate attempt to cover up the crimes of destruction and terrorism practiced by Israel against the Palestinians. . Actually, Israel seeks through its continued propaganda machine, which once failed in derailing the international vote for Syria’s Security Council membership, to divert the world attention from the core issues to marginal ones. Among the core issues is the Israeli very existence in the very place; in 1948 Israel was admitted to the UN provided it were to endorse issued resolutions and partition plan! Has it implemented so far a single UN resolution? Had Israel implemented resolution 194, Palestinian refugees should have by now enjoyed their human right to live where they belong! The international community is expected to stand at large by this very inalienable right and even expected to stand by the countries which host them. Isn’t the UN Charter clear regarding ‘ living in peace and refraining from the use of threats … war…? Aren’t the Israeli frequent media leaks regarding plans to launch strikes in diametrical contradiction with the UN Charter? Israel, however, can start a war, bur never decides where, how and when it ends! The search for just and comprehensive peace is never an indication of weakness but of wisdom, courage and right.

The Palestinians living in this part of the world and all Arabs aren’t happy with the inhuman criminal record of the Government of Sharon against their own people. They are the freedom fighters of today fighting against the only and last remaining occupation. When Israel uprooted them from where they belong, other brethren have provided them with temporary housing and accommodation, where they have civilian offices of their own. Are the hosting countries obliged to close their last social and cultural headquarters when the Israeli side even refuses the mere discussion of their human catastrophic conditions. The crime is displacement, but never their generous hosting. The answer to their chronic suffering is through a negotiated rational solution and never sending them to the unknown! The need is dire now more than ever to draw a sharp distinction between fighting back the occupiers to regain the usurped, as a form of resistance enshrined and guaranteed by every law and norm, and every heinous form of terrorism. Damned are the sadist who enjoy seeing the blood of the innocent littering the sacred land! Most, if not every human, do feel bitter pain and headache when seeing any child pay for the crimes perpetrated by others.

Misfortunately, the world has been changed into a zoo where the occupier sinisterly aims to silence every move for liberation and freedom. The answer is clear and definite; it lies in the implementation of related UN resolutions and only in their implementation. Driving wedges between countries sinisterly and unwisely as to widen gaps of misunderstanding and block channels of high level contact and communication is never the answer. Accusing others of shouldering the responsibility for the Israeli occupation security, displacement of the Palestinians and war crimes is but to aggravate an already explosive situation. The international rational consensus led the world in the mid of forties to create the UN as a forum for reason, justice and as a mechanism for conflict prevention and settlement. As expected, the UN has to play a leading role now as to underline the international commitment and determination to work for just and equal lasting peace. The facts on the ground do justify a binding Chapter Seven resolution as to compel Israel to implement the tens of unheeded resolutions; hence the ongoing reckless Israeli policy does threaten the world stability and security. Hopefully, the farce of Jenin fact-finding team isn’t to be repeated. If so, the eroding credibility of the UN is to even to get worse! The United Nations has to help the people of the region to live in peace and coexistence. Many here in this part of the world, and from all sides, pin their hopes on a more active UN indulgent as to turn a new more secure chapter in living free away from all forms of threats and aggressions.

As a Syrian journalist, the most frequent phrase in the Syrian media has been ‘’ the implementation of resolutions 242 and 338’’, ‘’ Madrid terms of reference’’, ‘ the principle of land for peace’. This is the language of peace commitment. Unfortunately, the Israeli media is almost void of any mentioning of such resolutions. Israel has even exploited world media means to disseminate its poisonous fabrications of a one-sided fake version of the story. This media at many occasions diverted and misled the world public opinion. It ,however, failed to cover up the Israeli crimes in Qana, Sabra and Shattile and in Jenin; thanks to modern technology and media means which aired, at times live on air, the scenes of the Israeli breaking of Palestinian bones, shelling of the Nativity, bulldozing of civilian houses and cold blood killing of Palestinians as it was when Israeli troops opened barrage of fire at Mohammad Al-Dourra! Media observers who follow up Israeli media hold the common belief that it is a war media. Israel presents itself as the only democracy in the region fighting for human principles and objectives. Is it democracy to usurp others land and rights and deny them the simplest of human rights? Is it democracy to erect barbed and electric wires around Palestinian camps? Is it democracy to discriminate against thousands of Arabs inside the so called-green, though red with blood, line or to lift the immunity of a Knesset member, who dares to criticize? Democracy, as a sublime objective, exists in many parts of the world, but not in Israel, whose imported civilians have to be but Jews, preferably Ashkinazi! !

Mr. Yehuda Lancry, don’t cry and shed crocodile tears! " Everyone has the right to condemn terrorism except Israel which practices it against Palestinians’ and against the Lebanese, Egyptian, and Syrians too, Almost half a million of the Golan Heights Syrians do live away from the Heights of the ancestors! And even against the UN and Americans too, the memory of US Liberty and Count Bernadotte still alive, not to mention other crimes! The need is urgent to diplomatically and wisely address each other’s concerns. Your void-of- diplomacy and meaningless mambo jumbo could be interpreted as merely out of time, context and of place cliches to escape and run forward! What is expected is a reconsideration of the past rhetoric, which led the region nowhere but to where your country does want! In peace, all sides are to gain. If not, the Amnesty International report on Israel tells you who you are! What the British MPs said the other day about the Israeli war crimes tell you more. Searching for ways and means to iron out differences and to bridge gaps is the safe side for all. The best is to halt the ongoing Israeli sword-rattling Don Quixote threats and build on what was achieved. Peace alone can build a better future; the UN has now to be the place for outlining the frames and bases building on Arabs’ unanimous peace initiative, the achieved and related resolutions and understanding.
