Israeli Nukes! Upside down many of today’s realities have been reversed to. In this part of the world, Israel is always allowed to stockpile nukes and Mass Destruction Weapons spreading uncertainty and threats looming over millions. The surrounding countries have but to bow in fear, provided such a fear is never to disturb the occupiers. The policeman of today’s tiny globe is to chain and put fetters in every hand of defense. You have to be threatened, hit and to turn not only the other check but every part of the body to welcome the sticks. Carrots are never to feed the hungry for freedom and independence. They are distributed to the wrong side; hence those who are thirsty for blood and hungry for killing and destruction will never be satisfied with carrots, no matter how vitamins they contain. It remains, however, a noble objective to have a region, if not a world, free from all means of mass destruction and killing. Such objective should be , as reason dictates, attained evenhandedly and symmetrically knowing that Israel alone is the nuclear power in this region. The best start to this end is to rid the region from the Israeli nukes. Israel is among the very few in rejection of the Non-Proliferation Treaty Israel started its nuclear program since the forties of last century. It, according to different sources, stockpiles more than 400 nukes with their necessary air, land, and sea long distance launching means. According to different estimations the Israeli nukes are capable of reaching any place in Europe, Africa, Asia, if not other continents. According to world tribune. come, Thursday. July4, 2002, a United States Air Force report asserted that Israel ‘’ is building a nuclear naval force", ‘’ has produced a hydrogen bomb’’. The report added: ‘’ These nuclear missiles could have a range of 350 kilometers" citing an authorization taken from Premier Sharon, who happily authorized every killing and destruction, to launch ‘’ retaliatory nuclear strike". US Army Colonel Warner Farr, according to the report, said ‘’ Israel’s nuclear arsenal has grown from an estimated 13 nuclear bombs in 1967 to 400 nuclear and thermonuclear weapons. " Israel’s navy could deploy nuclear weapons on the fleet of three German-built Dolphin-class diesel submarines’’ added Col. Warner. Earlier, according to Louis Toscano, Triple Cross: Israel, the Atomic Bomb & the Man Who Spilled the Secrets (New York: Carol Publishing Group, 1990), p. 12. it was the revelations of nuclear weapons worker Mordechai Vanunu which revealed Israeli's nuclear secrets. He published pictures and detailed descriptions of the secret Dimona reactor and weapon facility in the October 6, 1986 London Sunday Times. He estimated the arsenal at 200 weapons, including sophisticated types such as enhanced-radiation (neutron) and even hydrogen bombs. It appears Israel bypassed the first generation of fission weapons all together and went to boosted fission weapons, whereby deuterium and tritium are inserted into the plutonium warhead at the moment of explosion, flooding it with neutrons and "jump starting" the reaction. Israel built its so-called ‘’ third temple’’ as a deterrent against any possible holocaust. As long as a further holocaust is neither possible nor desirable or permissible, considering Arabs’ unanimous Peace Initiative as the most remarkable demonstration of a genuine desire to end for good a bloody chapter of occupation living in harmony and coexistence. Such a remarkable breakthrough has to be reciprocated by a commitment to just and viable peace. Such a commitment is conditioned to an Israeli willingness to joint the Non-Proliferation Treaty as a confidence building measure away from threats and ongoing bath of blood. According to " Ha’aretz, 3 January 1996, the then Israeli Premier Shimon Peres said: Give me peace, and I will give up the atom.’’ No Israel is given through the Peace Initiative every door for a better-for- all future and coexistence. What is the given in return? Most of international conflicts have been settled down. The Israeli nuclear arsenals cause a severe headache to security and stability worldwide, even to the Israelis, considering the region demography, not to mention news reports about high rates of radiation and pollution nearby the aging Dimona and other nuclear sites facilities. Time is ripe now for a genuine move as to eliminate a fourth bid to use the nukes against Arabs, the last of which was by Golda Meir during the Liberation War of October! The region is in desperate need for stability, prosperity and progress. Consequently, isn’t it a farce when Mr. Bolton accuses a peace seeker NPT signatory country, Syria, of nuclear-related falsifications. This is ‘ twisting of facts’! Even the head of an ostrich is deep hidden in sand, its body is ever exposed even to a cross-eyed hunter. Israel is very mistaken if it were to think of nukes as the deterrence. The only deterrence is that of peace, dialogue, understandings and culture of trying to co-exist away from occupation and humiliation. It is in the interest of nobody to have such a crowded small region filled with nukes and mass destruction weapons. Once launched, God forbid, all are to pay a very heavy price for many generations to come. "Give me peace, and I will give up the atom.’’ Here it is Arabs unanimous initiative of Peace.
